Yingfei Ma, Ph.D., Professor
Principal Investigator, Center for Synthetic Microbiome
I am a Professor in the Institute of Synthetic Biology, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. I obtained a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, in 2009. And then I received Postdoc training in microbial metagenomics at the University of California, San Diego. In 2011, I was employed as a research scientist in studying the association of human microbiome and human disease at New York University, School of Medicine. In 2015, I became a Principal Investigator running a microbiome lab. Currently, my lab focuses on phageome, phage synthetic biology and phage therapy in treating the infections of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. Our studies are supported by various grants of more than ten million Yuan from Shenzhen government and Chinese National Science Foundation.
